SDS

The SDS quick-release system is the established standard connection for hammer drill bits today. It guarantees best-in-class power transfer from the drilling system while at the same time offering fast, simple and safe clamping of the drill bit in the hammer drill. Depending on the task, there is the most widespread format, SDS-plus with a diameter of approx. 10 mm for hammer drills < 5 kg and SDS-max for hammer drills > 5 kg with a diameter of approx. 18 mm.

SDS-Plus

Cylindrical shank, 10 mm in diameter, two round grooves for axial fixation, two wedge grooves to transfer torque; for hammer drills < 5 kg

SDS-max

Cylindrical shank, 18 mm in diameter, two round grooves for axial fixation, three wedge grooves to transfer torque; for hammer drills > 5 kg

Ratio

Threaded shank, 14 mm outer diameter, with special double-start round threads

Tri

Cylindrical shank with same diameter as body with three recessed surfaces to prevent twisting in a 3-jaw drill chuck

CYL

Cylindrical shank, with same diameter as body up to a certain diameter, after that: reduced shank

M16

Standard M16 metric threaded shank, generally for core drill bits, socket cutters, and hole saws

HEX

Hexagonal shank without a specific inscribed circle diameter to prevent twisting in a 3-jaw drill chuck

M14

Standard M14 metric threaded shank, primarily used on angle grinders

1/4'' HEX

Hexagonal shank with an inscribed circle diameter of 6.35 mm (= 1/4"), generally used for cordless drills and screwdrivers

Morse

Tapered cylindrical shank with 2.8 - 3° taper angle, primarily used in stationary machine tools
